The NTS beam system is designed as a universal system and
offers:
• an adequate number of grooves to provide flexibility for
mounting components and guide rails
• all other possibly unwanted details were left out in order
not to restrict the constructor’s freedom to design
On first glance, the profiles appear symmetrical, but this
is not the case. The designer should therefore study the
forms and possibilities of the profile closely: there are
areas in every cross-section where primarily machining is
possible. Two adjacent sides of the profile have recessed
sections of wall. This simplifies assembly and any machining
that may be required. The internal braces achieve
significant stiffening of the profile, which provides far
greater rigidity for coping with local stresses.
The NTS beam system is largely intended for small production
batches or for the construction of special machines and
structures where development of special customised sections
is not warranted. The profiles are supplied ex stock and can
be cut to length if required.
Tolerance class N (normal)
Based on DIN 1748.4 “precision straightened”
Tolerance class P (precision)
Based on DIN 17615.3 “Precision sections manufactured in
AlMgSi0,5”
Tolerance class S (special)
These have substantially tighter tolerances compared to
class P,
particularly in respect of straightness, twist and
parallelism.
When ordered, class S profiles are cut from stock lengths
based on the dimensional datasheet.
Surface finishes
The surface quality of large profiles is only partially
comparable to those of small profiles. However, surfaces can
be anodised to provide high-quality protection. |
