Aluminium for Architecture

Falkit® System

Falkit® is a system for cladding all types of surfaces based on aluminium tongue and groove slats. Its simple assembly, variety of profiles and adaptability give it great versatility, and it can adapt to multiple uses: ventilated façades, canopies, fairings, interior linings, decorative panels, enclosures for estates, etc.

The wide range of profiles that make it up, the varied mounting options, the possibility of combining different slats and the multiple finishes give the system endless possibilities for use.

In addition, Alu-Stock has the ability to create new profiles for certain specific projects that require this due to their uniqueness.

Material | The system consists of extruded aluminium profiles, an aluminium sub-structure and stainless steel bolts and screws, the details of which are included below:

  • Profiles: The profiles that form the system are extruded with EN AW 6060/6063-T5 alloy, the composition and mechanical properties of which can be seen in the technical information section of this website. They are the external aesthetic element.
  • Sub-structure: The basic sub-structure consists of the following components:
    • Aluminium tubular uprights or strips, 40 mm wide, and the measurement of the side will depend on the air chamber you wish to obtain.
    • Anchoring brackets or bases that allow horizontal and vertical adjustment in their positioning on the surface, as well as vertical adjustment of the strip.
    • Fastening bolts and screws:
      • Self-drilling stainless steel square footprint screws for fastening the profile to the strip and the latter to the anchoring base.
      • Expansion wall plug and DIN 571 screw for fastening the anchoring base to the wall. This element may vary depending on the type of surface to which the base is fastened.

Supply | The standard supply length is 6,050 mm.
Depending on the assembly, it may be necessary to clean the ends of the profiles, in lengths ranging from 30 mm (lacquered), 50 mm (natural anodised) and 100 mm (anodised in colour).
To make sure the material is perfect for each specific project, it can be supplied in lengths ranging from 5000 mm to 7000 mm, taking into account that offering other measurements outside this range involves a surcharge for treatment if they are less than 5 m and that there is a functional limitation on them (size of the anodising tanks, ...) and on their transport. Upon request, cut slats can be supplied with the measurements necessary for each project, taking into account the number of cuts and the number of different lengths depending on the surfaces to be covered.

Finish | Falkit® System profiles can be supplied in three different finishes, namely a rough manufacturing finish, as well as anodised and lacquered finishes.

  • Anodising: Anodising is a chemical process by which the aluminium oxide layer that naturally coats the profiles is artificially increased. This increase in thickness achieves, on the one hand, increased protection against corrosion and, from an aesthetic point of view, creates a more uniform finish in terms of colour and tone.

Standard anodising has a thickness of 15 microns, which can be extended to 20 microns in places subjected to a more aggressive environment, such as maritime environments or places with significant environmental pollution.
Important note: Anodised profiles must be free from visible defects on significant surfaces when viewed from a minimum distance of 5 metres in uses for exterior architecture and 2 metres for interiors.
Due to the variable composition of each extrusion billet, the anodising process itself and various factors whose variability cannot be controlled, differences in terms of the tone produced by the anodising process may occur. Therefore, the admissible degree of this variation in tone should be agreed in advance by way of samples.
The tone of the light and its degree of reflection on the profiles also have an influence on colour, so that assembly on different planes will produce different tones.

  • Lacquering: Coating of polyester powder paint with a layer thickness of between 60 and 80 microns. Many different RAL colours, both matt and gloss, as well as textured colours, are offered.
For cleaning, products that are as neutral as possible should be used, avoiding base or acid products as well as abrasives, etc.

Range | The Falkit® System has more than 40 profiles divided into the following series, apart from the existing finishing profiles:

  • Series 125: 125 mm wide profiles that can be combined with 166 Series and Dekorakit System profiles. With 8 linear meters of profile an area of 1 m2 is covered.
  • Series 166: 166 mm wide profiles that can be combined with 125 Series and Dekorakit System profiles. With 6 linear meters of profile an area of 1 m2 is covered.
  • Series 200: 200 mm wide profiles that can be combined together. With 5 linear meters of profile an area of 1 m2 is covered.
  • Curved: Extruded curved profiles especially recommended for lining columns of up to 500 mm in diameter.
  • Dekorakit System: Profiles of different measurements that can be combined together and with Series 125 and 166, especially recommended for commercial equipment.

Certificates and tests | The Falkit® System profiles are tested by the Tecnalia technology institute, which demonstrates their response to external agents.
These are the results of the tests:

  • Fire resistance test: Class A1 according to standard EN 13501-1:2007
  • Hard body and soft body resistance test: Category II according to ETAG No. 34
  • Wind-driven rain resistance test: 150A according to standard EN 12865:2002
  • Wind resistance test: Maximum load under suction 3000 Pa according to ETAG No. 34 | Maximum load under pressure 4000 Pa according to ETAG No. 34
